WOW or WIP’s with Esther 24th Mar 2014http://www.estheraliu.blogspot.com/

I only have the internet for a few hrs each evening at present and it is painfully slow and drops out more often than not so I’m not sure how I will go with my blog this week.  We have had no land line phone for 4 weeks and no internet connection for one week it is very frustrating. How did our great grand parents cope with the loneliness of only receiving an answer to a letter after 6 months when they had to rely on sailing ships????? how spoilt we are with the internet now days. At a press of a button I can talk to any of my children and see them to on the other side of the world???????

Teddy Bear quilt top finished finally

Teddy's now have their eyes ears and noses.

A beautiful peachy pink silk Kimono that came in to the Opp SHop yesterday, sadly it had a very very bad stain on one sleeve but for me it was perfect as I will unpick it and use it in my Love Entwine as it is the exact colour I need for my LE

I unpicked the sleeves from the Kimono and washed them. This is a close up of the fabric . In every kimono there is roughly 7 yards of fabric at 14 inchs wide .

Under silk kimono used like a petticoat.

Very neglected brass candle stick.

2 1/2 hrs later to this??? A lot of elbow grease and time.

From 4 18inch squares too???????

Evolving????

slowly changing.

From 4 pieces of fabric that measured 36inches square I end up here with 23 inch square now you can see why many men can not understand our love of patchwork LOL. My father never got it!!!!!

Brolgas flying in at dusk  after a sugar cane burn off.  Now to finish sewing on  the borders, quilt it, bind it,  and finally appliqué the Brolga’s on.!!!!!

Working on the last border.

On my front veranda, I went to wind up the front verranda blind this morning and walk splap bang in to him, he was right a cross my face thats how big he is. They are harmless but do look pretty mean. We call them Charlie if we have one around they catch lots of mosquitos and flying insects. .

Back of Charlie

It has taken me nearly  1 1/2 hrs to get this amount to upload, so I have published now in stead of tomorrow night in case I end up with no connection at all tomorrow night.????

I will try and link with Esther around 6am tomorrow or tomorrow night. http://www.estheraliu.blogspot.com

I managed to link finally with Esther.

Those of you who have read to this far thank you for dropping in. Take care Glenda

I do hate internet problems! we were just talking – DH and I how would life be if we had no internet! I love that quilt that you post with the birds taking flight

I’m so pleased that you stayed with it, slow connection or not, and managed to share all your lovely photos with us! Love the brolga quilt! Absolutely beautiful! Good work on the teddy bears and candle stick too.
Hope Charlie is happy with you – he is huge! Hope he’s hungry for those flying bugs!

  3. Karen Miller says:

Glenda your quilt is fabulous! I just love the birds and how you “rearranged” the fabric is perfect. So sorry about all of your internet woes – always taxing on the patience isn’t it ? Now as far as “Charlie” goes — WOW! He is one big spider. I’m fine with them as long as they aren’t on me… He is sweet and I bet he eats a bunch of bugs. Take care, Karen

Hi Glenda, I feel for you with your internet problems, know the feeling of not having contact and everything crashing just when you think you have got through.
Love your Brolga’s Flying quilt, your background is stunning makes we want to do some piecing again.
Not sure about Charlie though, just the photo makes me cringe!!!
    Hugs, Jenny

Glenda I feel your pain! I think its hard to believe for our US friends, how poor Australian internet connection can be! I’m on the highest possible plan in a major city and there are still days when I just can’t do anything online as the connection is so bad. I get so annoyed with it too…:) I had to remind myself the other day that I used to quilt without even turning on my computer or sending emails 10 years ago, I don’t even remember what they felt like! How quickly we all get used to technology!

Oh I adore that pink kimono for LE, what a great idea. As for your beautiful quilts, I really don’t think men understand patchwork – buying fabric to cut it up and sew it back together again!

I’m not looking at the spider, it seems like you always have a creepy crawly to share!! I can’t take it!!
