WOW or WIP’s with Esther 5th Feb 2014 http://www.estheraliu.blogspot.com/

Hubby would shine the torch on them and I would set the camera up;  hubby would turn the camera off and I would take the photo’s. These were all taken last night

Well I’m still here and our home, the cyclone came in lower down the coast and was down graded which still brought lots of flooding with the rain but no one is complaining as they have been in a drought inland down there for the last two years or more.  We did not get any rain at all, but over the last weekend we had our fair share of around 10inches, so lots of flash flooding  here but we are OK.  This is what we see when we get rain like this.

Tiny 1' long tree frogs I adore them.

I'm not scared of you!!!!!!

They are never bigger than 1 1/2 inches but you would not believe the noise they can make.

Some flowers that have survived the rain over the last week.

Stunning red.

Pink Beauty.

Orange delight.

Pink Beauty in a hanging basket a little sad after all the rain.

Several of you are talking about English Paper piecing that you have started doing, this is one of mine I'm working on its along term WIP LOL. I'm just making it up as I go, it has been fun to make.

All though I'm a long way from Part 8 I just had to play around with those wee Dutch Pixies. I started our using all dark blue cones and red clogs at the bottom and pink clogs at the top. Then decide to have a strong contrast with every second cone.

This is when I should of stopped but I went on to cut out my 4 borders to make sure I was going to have enough fabric before I appliquéd or marked my fabric with thread to add the Zig Zags which I had been making over the last few months, . I was short of 3 for the first border now I have more than enough ready to appliqué on.

OK I'm happy with the cones contrasts but not happy with the clog contrasts so now making up some in a soft neutral pink

An interesting corner lay out. None of the pieces are sewn just all placed to get a feel of how I want it to look.

I have ironed on a facing behind the border panel, this will stop the silk from moving and I'm able to mark straight lines a lot easier this way plus it makes the silk fabric lie nice and flat and does not crease; it is a very fine soft interfacing so will not make it heavy or stiff. Now to find time to make up some pink clogs LOL. I'm having fun. My back ground is silk so it keeps changing colour and shades as I take photo's from different angles.

I managed to make a wee vase and some soft pink clogs and I'm much happier with this pink.

Fran this is for you, I have taken a close up of some of my flowers so you can see where I have added padding to some of the flowers. Cheers Glenda

I’m making up my blog tonight Tuesday as I’m been a driver for some friends who need to attend the hospital for a bone scan tomorrow , so I will be busy all day. I will leave here at 7.15am so may not be able to link till I come back late after-noon. I hope to get a lot of my afghan sewn tomorrow while waiting.

Happy stitching all Glenda who will link with Esther tomorrow.

the frogs are wonderful to see~!
i spent some time in Honduras visiting my daughter (when she was in the peace corps.) and while there experienced just how noisy the frogs (and other night dwellers) could be. it’s amazing how much noise all of those little night time creatures can make. quite a symphony~!!

wonderful to see the progress on your quilts.

Hi Libby yes the rain forest is so noisy at night time, we have a bird that calls out around 4am and it has a loud screech like a Tom cat and when we have visitors they will tell us they heard some one screaming in the night and they are so worried my niece even woke me up as she was so scared?????? this bird is called The Cat Bird!!!!!!!! In the day time after around 9am it is very very quiet till around 6pm here. We sleep through most of the noises. We have another bird that calls out from around 7pm till 11pm then again around 4am till 6am it is called a Curlew I love these birds but hubby detests them as they attack our wee dog when he takes her for her morning walk when they are breeding, they are stupid birds really as they lay their eggs just on the ground and stand guard over the egg till it hatches and will attack any thing and any one, they are laid beside walk ways, in front of shops any where???? LOL. We had one lay it’s egg out side our church Opp SHop last year and I went out with another lady and she drew the bird away and I picked up the egg with a spoon and relocated it 3 meters away, well that bird was so angry with us for the whole morning glaring at any one who walked in or out of the shop. I wish I had videoed it. Cheers Glenda

  6. I absolutely love those little tree frogs. They are works of art. And your LE is a reflection of all the exotic beauty all around you. It makes me feel happy looking at it!
