WOW 8th May 2013 with Esther Aliu http://www.estheraliu.blogspot.com/

Well I have found time to do some Patchwork this week but not much to show for all the time I have spent on it. NO I have not been cleaning up my sewing studio or room or space like some of you have LOL. I have been preparing lots of  Cathedral Window blocks which I found out I did not make as I thought I had, I had to unpick one of them to get the pattern?????

Cut a square if fabric then fold it in 1/2 and sew both ends with a 1/4inch foot. My square is 14"" as the width of a piece of Kimono fabric is 14" wide normal, I'm using wool for the pockets.

Pick up both pieces of fabric where finger is pointing and pull each piece to the sides.

When you pull the two sides out you end up with a open square l;ike the above; now sew these two sides together but leave a 1 1/2 " un-sewn to turn pocket inside out.

Those two sides sewn together and now to turn the pocket inside out?????? Tip I sew from one end to the middle seam back stitch then lift foot and fold seam under and start sewing again on the other side of the seam. I don't sew my middle seam down this makes the middle of your square when turned inside out sit nice and flat.

Completed square turned inside out sitting nice and flat

Wadding added and coloured fabric ready to pin

First set of pins I now sew down the the centre points then each corner points.

Second set of pins ready for the quilting around the petals.

Completed square !!!!!!!

now I have to sew them as once I pin anything it can NOT be put away as the pins even the very best of them will rust within 4 months if left in the fabric. Part of the down size of living in the rain-forest in the tropics!!!!!! I have made up 25 during the week, now don’t ask me when I’m going to find time to sew them LOL

I bring washing home to do every Tuesday from the Opp SHop I have a special very larg bag where every one throws some thing nice but it needs cleaning, it’s like a lucky dip when I come to fold them up to take back as I never know what is in there. This week when I was ironing the linen there were these small hand towels with embroidery on them;

This is done on the finest of muslin like fine old handkerchief linen, and measures around 3" !!!!

when I looked closely they were made up of embroidery and the tiniest patchwork

Plum petals are around 1/8th of an inch and Padded!!!!!!!!

and stump work I have ever seen??????

Lantern is 1/2" by 1/4" very heavily padded then embroidered with black cotton??????

My DJ’s have not moved much sewing wise as Hubby gave me a new apple computer for Xmas and DJ’s EQ was on my old computer.  For a couple of weeks I have tried and tried to down load the patterns and then it dawned on me that the files were not on my apple. Finally Hubby down  loaded the soft wear for me last week-end and this week I have printed off  all the patterns from A row to the end of M row,  just to be on the safe side, why did I not print them all off?????? I ran out of paper LOL.

Sunshine Beach Noosa QLD Where one of my Boys and his partner live. I'm hoping to visit later in the year for a break!!!!! Photo was sent to me two days ago by email and I took a photo of it with my camera then uploaded it . Modern tecknowledge???????

Sai in Uncle Jon's new Go Cart??????

It is 7.50am and I’m off tot he beach, it is raining but the beach is the beach in any weather for me. Will upload some photo’s if I remember to take any LOL. as I always take my camera but leave it sitting in the car more often than not.

1.20

pm and I’m laughing as I did forget to take any photo’s down at the beach LOL it was quiet stormy and the swimming nets up pulled up so no swimming again this week.  Visitors will be so disappointed as the water temps around 27C so perfect for swimming.  But we had a lovely breakfast beside the sea; I took one of my DDIL’s and our 3 month old DGD who behaved beautiful so we could sit and enjoy our breakfast and chat!!!!!  Garden is looking water logged as we have had rain on and off for a couple of weeks now.

Only beautiful flower in flower at present!!!!!

In a months time or 6 weeks this Pointsanna will be red all over??????

Copper frogs I could not leave in a Opp Shop LOL. I have a thing about frogs so could not leave them behind!!!!!! I will find some where in my garden for them.

Off to join up with Esther’s WOW or WIP’s  http://www.estheraliu.blogspot.com/
