WOW or WIP’s with Esther Aliu 26th Feb 2020

I’m blinking as I just realised next WOW or WIP’s will be March!!!   We will be nearing the end of the 1st 1/4 of 2020!    I want 2020 to slow down as I’m sure it’s going to be a great year?

I stumbled across these little treasures last weekend, lmust must them, I want these for a little wall art, I love looking at these wee houses. I need to see on the top and right side pieces then sandwhich it ready for quilting. It’s been left out on my cutting table where I cut those last 8 pieces yesterday hopefully I will get them sewn to day?

I hadn’t noticed till I went to pin on this strip I made up this morning that this corner is out by an 1/8th so need to unpick top corner seam cut of a smidge and resew then it should fit perfectly.

Last week I left you with my first corner done on Part two of  Lovely Hope.

Ggg

First corner of Hope all most completely appliqued down.

I have all the pieces cut out now for all 4 corners,  ready to be appliqued. I have laid it out to see what it is going to look like,   I will share with you.

All

All my pieces cut ready to be appliquéd down.  Now for a few weeks of machine applique.

This week I’ve been laid up, unfortunately I have a infection in the  stitches  in my arm, so have had several days off.   When Iv’e been able to do any sewing it’s just been circles for my Red and Green quilt.

I love this Red and Green quilt to be. After completing the last block I have just as many leaves and grapes in the border!

I had this many circles ready to see down, started to applique them done and realised I need to applique the leaves down first by machine, so I have been doing those leaves to day, if I do 4 each day by Sunday night I will be back to appliqueing my grapes down again. But unfortunately I’m going to run out of thread so I will have to wait till I can drive the car again and visit the fabric shop?

When

When doing these tight corners I drop my stitch length down but leave my width the same, it makes it so much easier to work around them

On my cutting borad this morning, not sure how they are getting in?

On the veranda catching mosquitoes for us LOL.

Ive just walked around the garden so so wet and soggy, I did not think I would find any colour to share, but when I looked behind and under it was surprising what was there?

Oh those houses are a joy! Yes, worthwhile to dive in and finish that one up and get it hung on the wall. Hope those stitches are healing. As you know, I also tend prefer more color and contrast in my quilts, but I think you have a great balance going in your Hope. I am going to start one, but have a jacket commitment and will be scheduling my cataract surgery later this week. That procedure will slow me down a bit. But looking forward to seeing better!

Hi Lennea. So sorry your eyes need the treatment but it’s so wonderful how quick and easy it is now days. Hope it goes smoothly and heals quickly. How frustrating it will be waiting to sew again thoughLOL. Working on my little houses today, just worked out why the strip I made up for the top is not fitting LOl. Now to fix it. Also fitting a grape leaf in now and then? Cheers Glenda.

  3. I always love seeing what you’re working on, Glenda! Those little houses are delightful indeed. And the red and green appliqué is FABULOUS!! Shortening the stitch length for tight curves is an excellent tip; it’s just what we’d do if hand stitching but I never think of that when I’m using the machine. Will the little grapes be machine stitched as well or will you stitch them by hand? I love the thread colors you’re using for the blanket stitched leaves and stems. What kind of thread is that? And your Lovely Hope is coming along nicely as well. I hope that infection in your arm clears up soon so you can get back to doing more of what you love! BTW, not surprised that the critters are sneaking into your studio — they want to see what you’re making, just like WE do! 🙂

My little houses are now all most a quilt Rebecca thank goodness they gave me so much grief trying to sew those two silks in to a seam??? But all the machine quilting is done and now just the enjoyment of hand quilting the wee houses them selves. Finally tracked down the last small reel of thread in the second shop I went to in town yesterday, hopefully by the time I need more thread they have a new shipment in town???? so now can finish the grape leaves on my red and green and get back to appliqueing the circles down by hand, each one has a small amount of padding behind it as well. Thread on the stems is sulky gold and sulky !!!!! need to look it up for you LOL Gold is on the top side of the stems and the grape colour underneath the stems. Had my stitches out yesterday so its full steam ahead again for me Rebecca LOL Hugs from OZ>

Your small houses are beautiful, and I love your Lovely Hope appliqué. Pretty projects! And your garden is just amazing!

I wrote to you Fred but must have forgotten to hit reply!!! My wee wall art is finally finished as far as machine quilting goes thank goodness, I only did in the ditch but I’m not a machinist LOL. Now just need some hand quilting done on the wee house by hand which will be fun then add the binding and hanging sleeve. Then where do I hang itLOL It’s wonderful to be back working on Hope which I did for several hrs to day. I’m really enjoying my garden at the moment as it’s full of wild life this time of the year and lots of colour in the garden. Cheers Glenda.
