Have started to sew down the tiny birds on one of my WIL blocks.

Starting to blanket stitch down my tiny birds they are less that 1inch square?

Starting to double blanket stitch down my tiny birds they are less that 1inch square?

Tried a few colours before I finally choose this one to applique them down.

How I make tiny tiny circles the below ones are smaller than the top of a colouringing in pencil. You need to use batics or silks so the threads don’t unravel.

First cut squares with a good 1/4

First cut squares with a good 3/4 inch around the circle shape.

Draw a circle 1/8 th from the edge of the circle

Draw a circle 1/8 th from the edge of the circle Then do a running stitch on the line around the circle make sure those stitches are only 2 or 3 threads or it won’t work if your stitches are big, I use a number 11 needle and silk or bottom line thread.

Mnnn

running thread starts and ends behind the fabric.

Jnnh

cut away the fabric only leaving a scant 1/8th of fabric outside the stitches.

Hbbb

use some thing that is smaller than the circle to hold the template in place then pull thread in and around it.

Pull thread tight and gently remove the pen or pencil and slowly pull in thread and sew a knot . Gently work in to a perfect circle with you needle and fingers?

Hi Karen and thanks for dropping in. This time of the year I’m meant to be relaxing and doing very little but the rain has not stopped which means the vegetation keeps growing like the triffids and theres endless work to be done so we don’t disappear in the growth????? SO my sewing is suffering, its all most nil machine applique. Just wish it would stop raining, it will soon be the rainy monsoon season again ???? We will need to grow web feet LOL I have so many WIP’s I really need to work on or even finish???? Cheers Glenda

Loved the tiny bird! Your skill with machine applique has become excellent! Sorry you’re getting so much rain, especially since it’s not the rainy season. Hope you aren’t having problems with mold and mildew in the house. Happy Stitching!

What a nice collection of fabrics! Those florals are lushious. Makes me want to go shopping for new treasures, but both my cupboards and my project list are full.
