Quilty365 circles 2nd March 2016

My wee circles are made of Japanese fabrics made of wool, and silks mostly with some cottons but all Japanese these are appliquéd on to a silk fabric which is very fine and sheds quiet a challenge for me.

Well I’m still enjoying my wee 365 circles but not spending as much time on them as I was as I’m working on a project that has a dead line but it is still circles but big ones LOL below was were I was up to last FebOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Adding my first 40 and 50 sewn blocks together see below.

I’m still on track with my circles but have stopped to complete some bigger circles I’m working on for another project, this is Little Hazel by Esther Aliu

I love what you’ve done so far with your Hazel. She is beautiful. Your circles are coming along, very lovely. Flowers and green leaves, how peaceful. The 8 inches of snow we received last week had melted. Yesterday it rained, then turned into freezing rain, then into snow which turned into white-out conditions. Very nice to be sewing while I looked out the window. Oh well, spring will come soon. Blessings, Gretchen

Hi Gretchen it makes you wonder how the pioneers lived there in these conditions? I often wonder how difficult these winters must have been like. SO glad you are warm and dry and able to sew in comfort. I’m looking forward to what is our winter so I can do some hand quilting again, temps drop down to around 18C which makes it bearable to have a Huge quilt in your lap, I sit and quilt in my arm chair so I’m covered in a quilt LOL. Hugs Glenda

  6. Pat in WNY says:

Your circles are absolutely wonderful! Very much worth continuing the effort. I think we are all finding that we get behind sometimes, then very occasionally find we are ahead a day or two. It’s all good.

Hi Pat I have just visited your wonderful blog again and love that wee cardinal bird in one of your lovely Quilty365’s blocks aren’t they fun wee blocks to make/, Im a head with mine but I knew I would be so busy this time of the year I wanted to make extra one for March and April when there don’t seem to be enough hrs in the day. Cheers Glenda

  7. Nancy says:

Your Little Hazel is beautiful. I love those little light and gold blocks between the star points. I especially like the outer curve on them. Esther’s quilt patterns are amazing, aren’t they?

I especially like the grey backgrounds on your circle blocks. The subtle differences in colors/shades are beautiful when placed as you have them.

Hi Nancy thanks for coming to see what Im up to? I do know what I’m adding to Little Hazel this month and hope it looks like Im visualising it will be like? Often what I see in my mind looks completely different when made up in fabric! Just been in to ahve another look at your blog, love those photos of the quilts you see at the fairs, there is a sweet one of a1930s Sunbonnet Sue which has been appliquéd on with black thread, they did that a lot in the 1930 and 40s. My circles sit in front of me all the time so when I have 5min I can pick one up, I enjoy the therapy of just making one tiny circle and appliquéing it to my 4 1/2 inch square. Cheers Glenda

  8. Your Little Hazel is progressing nicely and I love your circles! Nice to see your sunset!
Love the conversation here, I will be returning to visit some of your visitors!
    Cheers, Barbara xx

Hi Barbara thanks for your kind comments. This time of the year we have stunning sunrise and sunsets, I get up extra early to sit out side our unit with a coffee just to watch the dawn break. Circles are just sitting at present as Im having lots of fun with some other projects but Im still on target may be today I will sit and sew some together, I don’t enjoy doing this as much as making them LOL Cheers Glenda
