Love Entwine update14th Oct 2015

My Love Entwine is having an airing it is months since I have worked on it, life keeps getting in the way of working on it. It is mostly silk so I only bring it out when I’m here on my own as this can NOT be washed ever as it will shrink all over at different rates as the silks are all different weaves and weights.

My LE Centre  STILL waiting for that 4th vase??????   It is months since I worked on my LE as it is all silk it can not be washed ever as it would shrink all out of portion as the silks are all different weaves and weights.  So it only comes out when I’m home alone!!!!!

Still I have not started my 4th vase???? why am I procrastinating over this vase???????

75% of the zig zags on the outer panels need to be appliquéd down still so hours and hours of sewing here still.

I would really like to finish sewing on the wee dutch fairies as I call them before putting it away again, they are pinned just waiting to be appliquéd on.  I have appliquéd about 50% of them so far.

They mate for life and usually come back to the old nest every year and repair it f

Our little Sunbirds have come back this year again so I’m very very happy. They mate for life and usually come back to the old nest every year and repair it

These 3 cotton balls are hanging below their nest how they kept them in place why they wove the thread around them is incredible.

They added these 3 cotton balls this year. These 3 cotton balls are hanging below their nest how they kept them in place while they wove the thread around them is incredible.

This morning I had black Sapote fruit with my cereal instead of Banana it is a tropical fruit from South America and tastes a little like chocolate. It is a close cousin of the persimmon.

Sopotae fruit turns a deep black and has a flavour similar to chocolate it is very very high in vitamin  C and there is a huge crop this year.  Used in pies, cakes, scones, deserts,  and eaten as a raw fruit on its own. I have it with yohget on my cereal

Last of my lilies but I have some orchids in there place now.

How lovely to see you LE out again – it really is beautiful! I hope that you find some time to work on it, although your bed quilt quilting looks rather special too!
    Cute frog! xx

Hi Plum thanks for your kind comments on my LE for those of you who do not know Plum she has just hung her own completed L.E centre; you can see it on her blog. Plum it looks so lovely hung, it must so lovely to walk in to the house and see all those lovely colours glowing at you. The other quilt I’m working on is one I made for my DDIL and son many years as a small wall hanging but they want to us sit on Jon’s big lazy boy chair and so I have added more borders and quilting it so it will take the extra wear and tear it will get now. Cheers Glenda

Your LE is lovely. She isn’t a project to rush through. When she is finished, she’ll be absolutely beautiful. Enjoy your time spent with her.
I couldn’t tell what was making the nest but it definitely interesting. Blessings, Gretchen

Morning Gretchen, in my rush to upload my blog for a second time I forgot to add the photo of the little Sunbird that made the nest I will upload one next Wed if I can remember LOL. I have been following your hand quilting of your own Dear Jane; You are putting so much time hand quilting it; it will be a treasure for a 100 years or more what a heirloom it will be and how quilters in the future will admire it. It looks so beautiful in Blue and White. Thanks for dropping in Cheers Glenda

LE is so much work and time I admire you for doing it.

    • glenda says:

Hi Sandra lovely to hear from you, the weeks go by so quickly for me I loose track of time and then I see a name I have not seen for a while and it puts a smile on my face seeing it again so thank you for dropping in. Of ALL the quilts I have designed and made of other designers this has to be the quilt I have loved making the most, I’m not sure why I just enjoy every stitch I make and watching it SLOWLY grow. It will be years before I complete it at the rate I’m going though LOL. Cheers Glenda

you are so much further ahead than I am on Love Entwined. I have two more vases with flowers to do before I even move to the next border. One day!! love all your plants and things. I will get back to work on LE when we get home in a couple days – as much as I enjoy traveling I will be glad to get back to my routine.

    • glenda says:

Hi Karen how I have enjoyed your trip this year, I do love arm chair travel now and your trip has been wonderful I did love it up in the mountains. Hugs Glenda

  5. What a great post. Loved seeing your LE – we are about at the same stage with the center, but I haven’t started those borders. I may stop with the center. Love all you other sharing. It’s so nice to be able to armchair travel. Thanks for sharing, Glenda.

Hi Angie thank you for your comments it is all ways nice to read that some one is enjoying my nature corner it truly is a beautiful place to live. Like you I love to arm chair travel now after years of living out of suit cases or on 2 year transfers. They were wonderful experiences but I do enjoy been in just one place now LOL I have done quiet a lot of prep work on the borders which are repeated but not the flowers, I knew this was going to be years of appliqué sewing so it is not worrying me that I have not even completed that centre yet, it will get done one day LOL. I have spent the last week just appliquéing down the zigzags and Dutch Pixies as I call them on one of the borders and only managed to do 1/3 even though I have sat many hours sewing. Cheers Glenda who is going to be at a loss when she finally does finish LE LOL

  6. Nancy says:

Your LE is absolutely gorgeous! The colors are beautiful. I don’t applique much and it’s hard for me to imagine undertaking such a detailed project. Kudos to you for doing it!

What kind of bird made the nest in the photos? It’s stunning. It must be interesting to watch them work.

I love your wall with the photographs. It looks inviting, like I want to wander over and take a closer look at all the photos.

    Thanks for sharing.

    • glenda says:

Morning Nancy, and thanks for dropping in, my wall is covered in memories of family, visitors, and travel. For years all our children lived overseas so this was were I went to say hello to them each morning LOL. I visited your blog this morning and also thought like you that the times magazine cover looked like a quilt, I thought it looked like a quilt from Bee’s Bend so strong in colour. Our little bird that is making the nest is called a Sunbird and is very small like the humming bird and such a delight to watch repair the nest each year. I will try and remember to add a photo of him working on the nest next week. Cheers Glenda

  7. Esther Aliu says:

Oh Glenda! your LE is stunning! I’m in love with your colour choices all over again and I love your balance of pinks in the zig zags. I love seeing how it is coming along. I can’t work on my own for long periods of time as it is too intense on my eyes and sewing fingers. And like you, I only pull mine out whilst I’m alone to keep it clean.

I’ve never eaten sapote, it sounds interesting. I love the birds nest too. A visit to your blog is always such a visit to the tropics – there’s always something interesting going on round your way 🙂

    • glenda says:

Morning Esther , well there is not a lot going on around here this morning, it is 9.20am and only 19C plus raining!!!!! this is very cold for us and we should be around 27C plus now and NO rain as it is the dry season. I have pulled out my long woollen socks as my feet feel like ice and put on a woollen jerkin and I’m still cold. Many of you will laugh at me saying 20C is cold but our temp for this time of the year should not below 20C at night time and our day temps no lower than 25C it is usually around 27C by now. After all we do live in the tropics LOL. Of all the quilts I have designed or made LE is the one that I have loved making the most every stitch I make is a joy. Cheers Glenda

  8. Ginabeth says:

I agree with Ester, looking at your website is like visiting the tropics or a small window on the tropics. So sorry it is cold there. I just left sunny FL 80F for TN 36F (10 hour drive). But it is suppose to be 70F here today. Will be here for one week then HOUSTON and the quilt show for the 1st time. Maybe someone entered an LE.

    • glenda says:

Hi Ginabeth, would love to be with you on your road trip some great country travelling. It is the tropics where we live but it sure does not feel like it at present, I grew up in NZ and thought I’d never feel cold again when we settled here LOL. Have a wonderful time at HOUSTON what a treat you have install for your self. Take a change of shoes with you, you will be able to keep walking longer that way LOL. Thats what I do. Safe travelling and have fun Cheers Glenda
