1930’s Grandmothers flower-garden quilt. 20th Aug 2014

Hello every one thanks for dropping in, I still am not back to 100% so still playing around with hexagons only.  Our sun has come back again after 2 weeks of rain and lovely cold nights cold enough to say we need a fire tonight, how I love to see a fire dancing in the lounge room from my chair.

Hanging  my 1930’s GMFG quilt I’m adding the border too and quilting; in the winter sun today trying to get the musty dust out of it, it keeps making me sneeze when working on it so it can not be to healthy ????  I have made the hexagons for  3 sides now, sewn and quilted on nearly 1/2 the border hexagons.

Cuddly toys that had been loved but were very dirty when handed in to the Opp shop I have washed them and now they are ready to be loved again!

Above were two woolen hand made jerseys handed in to the Opp shop sadly they had been washed in a machine and were shrunk to hard stiff felt?????  I brought them home and soaked them in softener for 24hrs and then dried them, they are lovely and soft now but the arms were so small even a toddlers arm would not get in to them, so I cut the arms off them and tried them on my DGS and DGD but they were long enough but miles to wide in the shoulders, so I borrowed one of Indians wee dresses and recut the smallest one and then blanket stitched around it in Red this is the top photo and now she has a super warm wee top?????  I’m now working on the other one.

This is a cute wee jump suit for a 10 month old baby miles to small for indian who is now 20 months old but I did not want to part with Minny?????  So I cut Minny out and ironed on some Iron fussing to the back.

Here is Minny ready and waiting for some where to go permanently she is resting on the wee top I used to draft out Rudolf’s top for Indi. Minny is missing the top of one ear but I will cut out a butterfly and stick that there to cover up what is missing LOL I thought she looked so cute here I went and  to make a wee dress for her?????

Instead I saw this wee print and became side tracked and cut out a summer dress instead from the drafted winter top,  I thought it needed a little touch of more colour so making it reversible

Minny still does not have any where to go but I have started to make a hole in my cotton  quilting fabrics which has not been touched for years.

Today I received a lovely post  mail in it was a parcel from some one special and she had sent me chocolates and this delightful wee teapot felt  card with a tea bag tucked in the cup a tiny note attached  says.

On any day at half past three make yourself a cup of tea I’ll think of you and you think of me.   How lovely is that???

I have pulled out my felts to make one for a friend so you can see I’m having a sewing day  or more like a cutting out day.
