WOW with Esther 22nd Aug 2012 http://www.estheraliu.blogspot.com

It has been a funny day, started out cloudy and a little rain not a nice day at the beach so no photos.

Then I was looking for a box to pop some thing in, I keep little boxes for those things you don’t know where to put them, found the right one and WOW found 30 hexagons I had thought the box empty.

Found lost Hexagons I did not know I had lost !!!!!!!

I had made them for my This Goes With That I was making several years ago with Sue.   Last year I was determined to finish it as one of my completed WIP’s and when I put it all out I found I was over 60 short of hexagons I was real disappointed as I was sure I had most of the hexagon made, any way I set too and made those 60 hexagons and completed the quilt top!!!!

This goes with that Of Sue's 2008 started finished 2011

Now I have 30 hexagons for what?????  May be I could add them at the top or bottom of the quilt or on the back around the outer edge to keep the hexagon shape  of the quilt on the back????

To day Finished SDS bag

Making closing flap by using quilt as you go method

and it is now ready to post so another item ticked off my list to do before flying to Japan.

Closing flap added to Bag and I have used shoe laces as ties through button-holes!!!!

Now I’m back making my wee mini log-cabins I’m addictive to them.

Mini Log-cabins

Making these out of some shirt samples I picked up in a Opp Shop last month they will end up a Tieshoulder-bag too!!!!!!

Now I’m off to watch the X Factor and do some hand sewing. Happy stitching all Glenda

I just love that hexie quilt is there a pattern to be found for it? Nice to have most of your things checked off your list. Your work is always so wonderful and I am always interested to see what you are up to. Hugs Bunny

Bunny the quilt design is not a commercial one, it just grew as I made the hexagons. So any one can copy it. The original pieced hexagons came from Sue Daley This Goes With That I started with Sue around 2009!!!!! You made 4 or 6 new pieced hexagns a week then joined them all together. I found my hexagons bleed in to each other and looked like mud so came up with using plain royal blue silk hexagons to break the blocks up and now they do stand alone. Some of the hexies have more than 20 pieces in them plus some fussy cut so it is a very time consuming adventure. Sue has just started a new This Goes With That but now I see she joins her hexies with a neutral in-between the hexies. Just remember there are thousands of paper pieces when you make the hexies up like this, but the finished project is well worth the effect, as so many people want it now in the family!!!!

what a clever idea to use shoelaces for the ties! 🙂

Your hexi quilt is fabulous, I would use the extra hexi’s on the back, maybe all together, maybe in groups to carry the theme.
We don’t often look at the back but what a surprise if people do.
I also find log cabins addictive, but most are still WIP, and I have now used the remaining fabric for something else !!!
    Cheers Jenny

That’s what I was thinking it being a clever idea using shoelaces for ties, thanks Glenda for the tip!!!

What a fabulous hex quilt! Glenda, you’ve really outdone yourself. I’ve been working on mine for years… I laughed when you found your hex’s in an empty shoe box, this happens to me all the time. Sometimes I find WIPs I don’t even recall starting, I have now had to start ‘cataloguing’ my WIP projects because it’s getting out of hand.

Yes, log cabins are seriously addictive but once again I can’t believe how much you’ve accomplished, that bag is lovely. You’re so busy Glenda, you never stop!
