WOW or WIP’s 22nd Jan 2020

Morning to you all who have woken to a beautiful Wednesday also.  Showing photo’s of parts of one of my blocks for WIL   Its taken me a long time to applqiue down all those fish I added in the border????  It was fun making up the border but WOW it was hard work appliqueing down those wee fish!!!!!

WIL

Machine appliqueing down one of the big border perse flowers

WIL

Did this one a year ago almost!!!!

WIL

Making my flower fishes eye????

WIL

Threads so many threads to pull through and weave in to the back!!!!

WIL

Highlighting the centre of the flower with blue thread doing double back stitch, on a very low stitch length.

WIL

WIL

Those fish and I still have 3 more borders to do yet!!!!!

WIL

They are lovely but oh me oh my!!!!!

WIL

WIL

SO close now to appliqueing down that big flower It was left to last to save touching it all the time when appliqueing every thing else down?  When machine appliqueing I find the block get pushed and shoved so much through the machine throat????   SO leaving the main applqiue till last.

I have  had RD on my bucket since 2009 ?  I never made it back when Esther released it as it was about 1/4 of the way through the BOM and I knew nothing about online BOM so I watched instead, let’s say I may make some of the blocks in 2020?  Making the first one and have taken photos for  those who may want some help making theirs?  This is a photo tutorial on how I built mine up to where I’m at now.

RD

Using white on white fabrics, not all the same fabric but all white on white. Remember to cut slightly bigger than measurements to allow for shrinkage when doing appliqué, then cut to size when you have finished the block?

Base for the Cherry thieves

Base for the Cherry thieves, yes it’s not red, I will be adding a little colour other than Red here and there?

Start of the pieces for irononfussing machine applique

Start of the pieces for irononfussing machine applique, these little legs are so cute?  Making them up as one piece rather than seperate legs.

RD

Have ironed the legs to the body so I won’t lose them and they are ironed to the base.  Main part of bird is not ironed down as I have the beaks, and cherry stalk to thread through his beak first .

RD

Made up his wing separately and will iron it on to the body as a whole wing .

RD

He has his cherries on the stalk threaded through his beak, again I made up the stalk and cherries then added them .

RD

Slowly it takes shape, it’s taking me much longer than I thought it would.

RD

He looks happier with his eye, that wee eye is made up of  4 pieces all so tiny!

RD

This was as far as I got this afternoon and tonight so my little female bird has no eye or wing, may be tomorrow morning which will be Wednesday?

In the garden this morning

What is more beautiful? The garden or the applique? Impossible to choose! Love the detail of WIL. Such a wonderful garden. I have the Red Delicious pattern, but not sure if I am ready to tackle that. Or if I want to do it in red. Hmmm. Also thinking about Cherish. I have a few more projects to get underway or wrap up and then will select another applique to start.
