WOW or WIP’s 28th Nov 2019 with Esther.

I feel like I’m in a beautiful bubble and I’m scared it is about to burst!!!!! This year has been a wonderful one for me quilting wise, Iv’e achieved so much more than I dreamed I would regarding finishing quilt tops.  But I know in two days time it will be Dec and I’m NOT ready for it or Christmas!!!!!!  What I want to do I don’t have enough days left so I’m going to have to write a list and write down 1 to 10 and each day make sure I do one of them?????  How many of you out there are in the same boat?????

last week I was working on my 3rd and 4th memory blocks of my mums, using many of her treasures some of her grandmothers treasures and many I’ve collected.

Ygg

Number 3 block as it was two weeks ago?

After adding some pink silk, some 1/4inch crosshatch machine quilting to the silk area and then some real pearls for a necklace that mum wore when she was younger?

After adding some pink silk, some 1/4inch crosshatch machine quilting to the silk area and then some real pearls for a necklace that mum wore when she was younger? I still need to add some tiny ribbon bows around the outer edges.  This is bobbin lace  which was around the edge of Carols grandmother hankie.  A very very special pice of lace.   So

Block 4.

Where I stRted with Block 4. This is h easy silk and it was a tiny pillow, badly marked with mildew, I unpick ed the pillow then soaked the fabric for a few days in a soft solution of exit moulde and water. All the Mideast spots disappeared.

Tried fine lace firs5 and did not like it.

    Dear Glenda

We know about heat! So glad you got some relieve and much needed rain. Your memory blocks are beautiful. LOL, we get flaky internet service when the weather turns cold here. Even our landline telephone goes on the blink. Amazing how technology has quirks too.

Dear Maggie, a week has gone by and I’ve not said hi to you, how did that happen???? Its been extremely hot down here, Ive even shut my self in my small room and put the aircon on several days which is very very unusual for me. Our internet problem is that we get so many lightening strikes close to the homes and every one ends up with fried modems, I try now to remember to completely unplug my computer from the power every time I go out now as these storms blow up so quickly. My iMax has installed a new upload protection and it takes for ever to get my computer back up and running, but i guess its better than no computer lOL Managed to finish mums hanky-quilt Friday night just in time for my son to take it to NZ on Monday morning, I would never put a quilt in the mail now, its far to risky. I would pay the extra and send as a courier parcel and be ale to track it. He will pop it in a couriers bag in NZ to its new owner. Not saying who here incase she reads it LOL Hugs Glenda who is looking for her Christmas quilt designed by Esther to hang.

  2. Pamela says:

Your blocks are very pretty. I’ve always lived in the northern hemisphere, so it’s winter for Christmas. Do you ever wish for a “white” Christmas?

    • glenda says:

Hi Pamela and apologies for taking so long to reply. No I grew up with out white Christmases in NZ as a child, then as a mum with small children Pamela. But I have had any beautiful beautiful white christmases, one in Canada, North Carolina, Japan even, and several in Europe, mostly in Vienna, so have been very very lucky to have those lovely memories of incrediable White Christmases. Cheers Glenda

  3. Kyle says:

    Love your blocks. Stay cool.

    • glenda says:

LOL Trying to stay cool in more ways than one Kyle, extreme heat does make you ratty LOL I locked my self in my small sewing room with the aircon on two full days as it was just far far to hot to go out and do any thing. 41.5 two days!!!! I felt so sorry for the babies the sick and elderly on those two days. I finished my mums hanky QAYG quilt on Friday night and it will be arriving at its new home any day in NZ. SO I’m very happy it has arrived as a pre Christmas surprise. I know she will love it even more than I would have. Cheers Glenda

  4. Ursula says:

Your blocks are beautiful. Your Mum would absolutely love them! So sorry about your heat wave. It was 111F – 43.8889C – on July 11, and that was really unusual. Hopefully things will be cooler in December.

    • Ursula says:

I left out the location – Dallas, Texas!

    • glenda says:

Oh Gosh Ursula that is extremely high, thats 44.5C, was it humid or dry, we were lucky it was still very dry as our wet has not come yet. Lots of bush and undergrowth fires still raging down South, have not checked this morning but up until last night they had airlifted all to safety. Mums Hanky Quilt will delivered to day or tomorrow to its new owner, and I know she will shed tears and love it so so much. She was very very close to my mum. Cheers Glenda
