  1. Some how it’s Nov and I’m seeing Christmas trees and decorations for sale and I feel like I’ve just put mine away from 2017?  I’m thinking of Christmas food to make when I’m cut

ting fabric,  I’m thinking who will be coming home this Christmas for Christmas dinner?  Then I get so carried away with my quilt top my day has gone LOL. Then its Wednesday again and it’s WOW or WIP’s with Esther

This week it has been a week of making my scrappy blocks in to a quilt top then the challenge of making a top and bottom border. Fun of challengers is you get to play longer? My scrappy blocks are all starters and Enders when I’m sewing on my machine.  Started doing this in Feb this year and by June had made 13 blocks.

So that was my week of sewing .  Let you into  a Secret those last 3 seams are still not done LOL

Update Wednesday 9pm I have been ironing dry old napkins, hankchiefs, or sevettets made from Lawn, linen or cotton for some hexagon vintage blocks I’m dreaming of making ?  I will use them as fillers so they will be cut up, so it does not matter if they have holes in them seams are coming undone or lace is eaten by moths in some parts?!

Old linen and Handkerchiefs been recycled into vintage hexagon blocks .

Love that you shared your border journey
Im working on learning the art of enjoying the journey of indecision and doubt. I don’t find it easy when things don’t work and can give up. Your journey reminds me to keep discovering keep looking and… keep enjoying 😍Thank you.

    • glenda says:

Hi Christine, glad you enjoyed the journey to LOL Its the first time Ive had such a challenge on a border???? may be because I have so many ideas and how to do things now I went in to over load and tried to hard. But happy with the simple but very effective final choice. Some times I think we get lost trying to do to much! I planned to just leave it as a square but for a bed quilt it needed that extra length to be practical as a bed quilt. Cheers Glenda

  2. Ingrid Slatta says:

Nice quilt Glenda, I tried to do the starters & enders but ended up giving it all to charity! Now I regret doing that! I can begin again once I get stitching.
The tropical flowers are beautiful but the creepy crawlers would get to me in the house. They don’t bother me outside but in the house…!!!!
So another week gone which mean another week closer to my new sewing room.
    Keep well.

Hi Ingrid I saw Karen from Karensquilting.com/blog scrappy quilts and loved them and I think it was Karen who does the starts and enders and have been making them since Feb in all sizes from 1 1/2inches to 2 1/2 inch scraps, Karen has made some wonderful scrappy quilts. It does take a little longer to stop and pick up 2 pieces of fabric instead of the same scrap each time but its so much fun seeing the blocks grow. Yes the creepies both me in the house to LOL we do have flyscreens but of course one has to open doors to go in and out so they do get in side form time to time. Id rather have beetles than centipedes and scorpions though. Enjoy your camping out, you will be soooo busy when you move in to your new home you wont have time to sew? Cheers Glenda

  3. Karen says:

love all your quilts and those creepy crawly’s – I really liked that border with those circles – love circles!! The end of the year seems to be coming awfully darn fast to me!

    • glenda says:

Hi Karen you are right back in to the swing of things. I really enjoyed traveling with you and looked up many of the places you visited, it sure is a big country. I love circles and leaves and of course they sway me to much some times. I’m really happy with the end results of the simple border now, have all most finished the top hope tonight sees it complete then on to sandwiching it. Can not believe this year has all most gone, was sorting Christmas decorations for the shop last week!!!! seems like I was just putting mine away from 2017 LOL Cheers Glenda

  4. Maggie says:

    Dear Glenda
I just love the red with the circles! That would have been my choice, what a happy quilt top. It just made me smile. Thank you.

    • glenda says:

Hi Maggie hope you are snug and warm way up there? summer has hit us full on temps have even been up in the 30’s which is unusual for us this time of the year. Last night we had 2 inchs of rain and it was just in time to save many of my plants and young trees we have not had rain for 3 months and with the high temps its been so hard on the growth. Ive been watering but it still was not enough, this rain will carry them through till the wet comes now. Looking forward to seeing what you make over your winter. Stay snug Cheers Glenda

  5. Deana says:

I am glad you took the time to audition and try several border choices. It was so worth it! I was taught years ago that a pieced quilt needs a pieced border. I don’t always follow that, but mostly I do.

    • glenda says:

Morning Deana, Im smiling this morning we had good rain last night after 3 months dry, it came just in time to save most of the trees and plants in my garden. All been well I will finish my scrappy quilt tonight ready for sandwiching. Not sure when I will get around to quilting it my pile is growing to fast I can not keep up the quilting LOL Oh well the wet will be here soon and I will have many days to fill in and may be then I will get to it, trouble is its so hot and humid that been buried under a quilt top is not so good LOL Cheers Glenda

  6. Bonjour Glenda,
Et bien voilà vous n’avez pas perdue patience avec toutes ces bordures,et celle choisie est splendide et donne une parfaite harmonie avec ces couleurs.

    Une promenade au jardin sympathique.
    Amicalement a vous.
    De France

    • glenda says:

Hi way up there in Beautiful France, I all ways think of huge family luncheons under the grapevines or fruit trees when I think of France. We visited several times 18 years ago and I left many quilts behind as gifts for those wonderful times. This week Ive spent most of the time on my border for my scrappy quilt and finally did the last stitches yesterday Marie. Now its in a pile of UFO to be quilted LOL Cheers Glenda

  7. Marita says:

    Dear Glenda,
your quilttop is so beautiful. Love the border with the strong red and cirkles and yellow flowers! Thank you for your wonderful garden pictures!!!
In Germany it is cold now. I’m freezing!
    Greetings, Marita

    • glenda says:

Dear Marita I wish I could send you some of our hot weather, we jumped straight from cool days in to very hot days in the 30’sC We have been lucky this week it rained after 3 months of no rain the trees were so thirsty? I have been watering the garden but trees were starting to show stress so they are now safe for another few months till the long wet comes again. Cheers from Australia.

  8. Gretchen says:

I love the leader/ender project you’ve made. My favorite way to lengthen quilts is to add a checkerboard border made from extra squares from the blocks. I actually like the red squares with the circles. Your flowers are so lovely, especially the Amaryllis. I had mine planted in a flowerbed for the summer. They’ve been pulled and are in the garage drying for now. In another month I’ll pot them and see if I get flowers this winter. Happy stitching!

  9. It takes time to find the perfect border, but in the end ….. perfect! Love your new top!

    • glenda says:

Hi Rosemarie, I’m very very happy with the way the quilt ended up, the border is very very different to what I had in mind when I started LOL But it has added so much to the main quilt and not taken over as the first borders were doing? Now finishing up a couple of other UFO’s that just need a few hrs or a day each to finish. I’m so bad at procrastinating when I’m nearly finished!!!!! Summer is with us well and truly, its time to be jumping in and out of the swimming pool to cool down and this morning I even went to the beach on the spur of the moment after shopping, came home with very wet long trousers on but very happy !!! Cheers Glenda
