WOW or WIPs Tiny houses 4th April 2018

Adding two blogs as there was just toooo much for one!

I’ve also managed to make a tiny house today?  I’m having so much fun making these!

TinyHouses   By  Tiffany Buss.   Click on link to seeTiffany’s tiny houses and  the group!

Im using the paper pieced pattern by Paula you can find it on the Tiny house group.

Below is how I’m making up my Tiny Houses at the moment. Have done this to help any new quilters who want to try paperpicing a tiny house.  I’m sure there are lots of way you could make these tiny houses but as I’m not a machinist I’ve found this works best for me at the present time.

The start of my Tiny houses

The start of my Tiny houses

Jhgb

MY first completed tiny house that took me 3hrs to complete?

Hgvvv

Then my first tiny house had a neighbor.

Little terrace houses now?

Then they became Little terrace houses?

You need at least a 5inch square of fabric

You need at least a 5inch square of fabric, out of the size of fabric right roughly 5inch square I only had those small pieces left on the left.

Jnh

THat 5inch square of fabric on the right cut up in to a triangle and two 1 3/4 inch strips.  I need two blue triangles .(I cut a 4inch square and cut in to 4 triangles .  Blue strips need to be just over 1inch strips.  My templates are inked behind too.  I find it difficult to get my head around the back to front sewing, plus I can change  which side the chimney is on the roof by sewing from the front instead of the back???

Hggg

All my pieces except for the windows and chimney

Hhhb

first I make my windows up.

Hggg

I start on the roof first, for no reason I just like making them up those little facings on the front of the roof they are a challenge.

Hggg

now that small template which is a challenge too.

Inhh

add my second triangle of sky

Hggg

Add my chimney keep the tiny cut of sky piece

Hbbb

add it back on to the side of the red chimney and this template is complete. Cheers

Hggg

Starting  my house with a window piece.

Jhhh

All houses pieces across are added now to add the top part of the house. I follow the pattern numbers that are on the pattern.

Lkjn

top added now all it needs is the sky each side.

Jhb

skyieces pines ready for sewing down

Uggg

2 Completed pieces

Yggg

2 pieces become one tiny house!!!  And that’s how I make one tiny houseLOL.

Jhgb

One  house became a village in a week?

Jhh

Finished one just after midnight around 10past 12!  So counts for what I’m doing on WednesdayLOL.

Cheers  Glenda and thanks for visiting.

Your one house is starting to grow into a lovely community.

I’m having so much fun Kyle with these tiny houses that Tiffany designed, I’m using the paper piece method and using the pattern Paula made up. Up to 15 now would l8ke to make about 50 at least, far cry from Tiffany’s 500 plus LOL. Cheers Glenda.

Wow, your tiny houses are very detailed. They’re beautiful. How many are you planning on making?

    • glenda says:

Hi Gretchen hope you are now able to get out side and walk around carefree with the sun kissing your face. We are hoping that the rain has finally left us, Cyclone Iris has gone way down South but still out at sea, just hoping it will die out as it has been so changeable they just don’t know what it’s going to do. Iv’e spent the last two days just picking up from the last 3 weeks bad weather, it will take several weeks to get on top of it, the ground is so soggy in places it ozzies over your foot ware. Best part of this is I have not been able. To get out side so lots of sewing gets done LOL. I would like to make enough wee houses to make a small wall hanging, thinking of framing them. Just love all the colours. Hugs Glenda

Your little houses are so cute! I didn’t notice all the detail until I saw your paper pattern. You make it look easy.

    • glenda says:

Hi Marti, I was very lucky about 10 years ago to do an online course on making tiny blocks using paper piecing, it was a lady from Denmark If I remember rightly, but we used a strong very light weight paper like tissue paper so it was sooo easy to see through, I have difficulty getting my brain to think back to front when sewing paper pieced pieces, so that’s why I draw the lines on the reverse side. After making 15 of these Tiny houses I’m getting the hang of sewing on the back LOL. May be after 50 it will come naturally LOL. Cheers Glenda.

  4. Pam Marbourg says:

I love your tiny houses! I am not sure which one I will move into-they are all so cheerful.

    • glenda says:

Morning Pam Have you moved in yet LOL My little houses are on hold till I finish my Red and Black quilt jus thave the last broder to add now, so good to see it all come together after looking at those blocks for 15 years LOL Cheers Glenda
