Buddha hand lime April 15th 2015

Esther has released another part of Oma’s Blues free quilt and how lovely those tiny centre blocks are.  Thank you Esther for sharing you are very very generous.

Life is always full of surprises, on Friday mine was seeing my first Buddha hand Lime fruit?????? I could not believe what I was seeing, having worked in a laboratory on tissue culture I thought it was a mutation, but no it is citrus fruit.

What is it??????? my mum use to say look at nature to see the weird  and wonderful.  Here we have limes, grapes, a banana, pawpaw and a buddha lime.  Some times called a buddha hand lime as some fingers grow the same length and hang down from the base of the fruit.  This one is grown locally. It is believed to come from Northern India or China.  A very very old citrus fruit,  it actuarially has no juice but the zest of the fruit is used and it has a lovely perfume.

Still sewing those QAYG blocks I will be sad to see them finished as I have so enjoyed playing with these lovely fabrics in wool and silk

I have only been working on my QAYG blocks and hopefully this week will see them ALL joined and then I can add a border and i will have finished ONE wIP this year LOL.

 

I’m helping look after Grandies for a few weeks so no time to blog more than this !!!!!
