My first 3 blocks of Red Delicious.

Hi every one,  I did think 2020 was going to be a great year, well quilting and sewing wise for me it’s been wonderful,  my knee has improved so much I now can sit for several hours at the craft table sewing or drafting,  I’ve been prepping my Red Delicious blocks like crazy and having so much fun, but not much sleep LOL.  Sleeps in the day time stopped some where in the  month !!!

Going to publish even though I have not done my caption, its all ready 1.30pm and I need to do some house work and prep dinner !!! Will write captions as soon as possible.

First up was I finished prepping my first block of Red Delicious.

The white satin stitch was using white sulky thread and stitiching so so slowly and changing the width of the stitch constantly?

Hhg

That satin stitch took me 10 mins LOL after nearly 2 hrs of trying all sorts of width’s and lengths samples LOL

Jhh

But now I’m happy with the look?  Used a colonial knot for the centre of the pupil!!!

Start of my prepping for block 2 of Red Delicious

Jjn

Procrastinating over which colours to use for the wee caps over the Nightshade berries?

Hhg

DO I put the darkest fabric in the front petal or the back petal!!! ended up in the front !!!

Now I’m working on prepping block 4!! Just hope it works out as I see it in my mind????

Hgf

Fabric I want to use for the vase is not long enough so Ive had to work out a way to still use the fabric !!!!   I’ve cut two pieces to make the vase but I want that join to be invisbale???

Gfff

Thi sis some ribbon given to me when I was in France.   Its perfect for here.

Hgt

I fused some ononfusing to the back of the wide ribbon

Jhy

To get a perfect fit I placed the pice of vase I cut out then pressed it all together on my Teflon sheet.

Ggg

Cut to the true shape, I’m happy with it?  it looks like it was meant to be like this now???

  1. The eyes in the birds are perfect! Your skills are growing girl. The vase turned out lovely too. So glad the knee seems to be doing well. Sewing is a great way to spend rainy days. Happy stitching!

Dear Gretchen, sorry its taken so long, its the wet season down here so I have very little time to my self. Thank you for dropping in. Those eyes were a real challenge, but thank goodness they worked out finally. Hugs Glenda

    Dear Glenda

Everything looks so lush and green. Your applique is looking stunning, love the eyes on the birds. You have been getting rain, the animals moving up to stay dry? We have snow and grey skies. So all the beautiful sunsets and sunrises are a sight for sore eyes. Thank you!

Dear Maggie, time has escaped me again, with health issues again. But hopefully back on track all most LOL Been down with a nasty tummy virus for 4 days. DDIL is taking me to the City to do some chores tomorrow as not up to driving there yet??? Have not even been able to sew much as no energy, but hope fully I will get back to it soon. We are having very unusual weather for us, we should be in the middle of the monsoon but it has not even arrived yet???? To day it hit 35C here the hottest day that I can remember in 20 plus years now???? My leg continues to improve and I walk freely with out any wheelie or canes. But keep them close when I’m out if standing for too long. My Dr has had both his knees done and is very happy with how I’m going, he said give it one year and you will not even know you had it done!!!! Hope you are keeping well and hubby is home now. Hugs Glenda
